Construction on APF’s New Manufacturing Facility Hitting Milestone as Flooring Installation Commences
by Leane Owen - Director of Marketing, Specialty Flooring
Construction on our new 50,000-square-foot manufacturing facility is progressing according to schedule, and now several of our high-performance flooring systems are being installed in the new building.
The mixed-use building will feature an 18,000-square-foot production area, 18,000 square feet set aside for storage/warehouse space and 14,000 square feet dedicated to office space. The demands on the surfaces are just as diverse as the business operations happening in each area. As such, we have selected flooring systems that will best meet the needs of the work spaces. Specifically:
- Because of the high-impact use from heavy drum handling and exposure to chemicals, the production and chemical storage areas will have Armor-Rez™ HD with a Novolac topcoat, which has superior chemical and high-impact resistance.
- The warehouse will use Armor-Rez SL 100, which has good impact resistance and is easy to clean – perfect for a medium-duty manufacturing area.
- The office area will have a new urethan terrazzo system, yet to hit the market. Anticipated to be commercially available in the latter half of 2017, the new urethane terrazzo system is ideal for offices given its resilient nature, while providing comfort and softness to feet. And in addition to having sound deadening qualities to minimize echoing in large spaces, it’s extremely versatile and aesthetically pleasing.
The facility is located near 43rd Avenue and Buckeye Road (4565 W. Watkins St.) and will also feature a laboratory R&D space, classroom and training areas, two conference rooms, a reception area, will call and ample parking. The new space will be completed in early 2017.
