Project Profile: APF’s CastorCrete® SL-B System Creates Hangar-quality Floor for Tech Company’s Event Space
The Challenge A satellite technology company in San Diego wanted to design a showcase area to host meetings and special events. The concept was to build a hangar-like environment that would house a plane’s fuselage to show clients where the new technology would be installed on aircraft
The Challenge: Commercial kitchens require high-performance flooring systems to keep pace with tough environmental demands, such as exposure to chemicals and organic food acids, and abrasion and impact from heavy equipment. Now consider the abuse and traffic within a massive convention center commercial kitchen, and the typical exposures are compounded much further
The shop needed low-maintenance flooring that could easily withstand frequent foot traffic, as well as light impact and abrasion from display changes. It was critical for the floor to be easy to clean.
Arizona Canning Co. produces and distributes canned foods throughout the country. The canning and sanitation processes wreaked havoc on the plant’s floors, which weren’t originally designed to come in contact with chemicals, carts, hot liquids and other hazards. Such abuse led to staining, delamination and other obvious signs of wear and tear throughout the 33,000-square-foot facility.
