Passing the Torch to My Son
by Dean Owen - Former President and Owner
Daniel has been immersed in the concrete coatings industry his entire life. His mom and I started our careers as application contractors in the late 1970s, and he spent a good amount of time “on the job.” As he grew, he helped with sample making and pail wiping. In his late teens, he was learning to batch product and even coated a few garage floors to make some extra money.
Daniel has always had an affinity for the business and a natural ability for coating formulation. In the last few years he has formulated several of our most important products such as CastorCrete Urethane Mortar Systems and ColorChrome Metallic Flooring Systems as vice president, he was also responsible implementing new business systems, procedures and environmental initiatives that greatly benefited you – our customers and partners.
Daniel understands the value of customer service and old-fashioned hard work. Now, as owner/president of APF at 33 years old, I’m completely confident he will continue to flourish. It’s a large responsibility for a young guy with a wife and two small boys, but he has embraced it all. His mom and I couldn’t be more proud.
