APF Releases Technical Bulletin on Moisture Mitigation
by Anthony Gaffney - Technical Marketing Manager, Specialty Flooring
Concrete moisture is the number one cause of flooring failure, accounting for approximately $3 billion in losses annually. Arizona Polymer Flooring (APF) recently released a technical bulletin to educate owners, applicators and other industry professionals about best practices relating to managing concrete moisture.
The technical bulletin discusses the history of moisture mitigation solutions, common sources of moisture, updates to industry standards for moisture testing and details the latest technology to measure and reduce moisture transfer through concrete. It is important that the moisture content of concrete is under control when polymer coatings and flooring systems are installed, as excess moisture can negatively affect the bond between the concrete substrate and the flooring material. Appendix B provides a detailed illustration of two different moisture field tests.
